The statements of the new Minister of Information of Kazakhstan Askar Umarov are unacceptable, nationalist and xenophobic, said Maria Zakharova, spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry. She did not rule out that the statements were attributed to him.

“The statements that we saw were quoted in the media and are certainly unacceptable. Any nationalistic, xenophobic statements that incite hatred or hostility between peoples, nationalities, nationalities are unacceptable, because this is our principled position, ”she said.

The scandal began with the publication of the head of Rossotrudnichestvo, Evgeny Primakov, on Telegram. He cited several statements attributed to Umarov. The original of this collection of statements was posted on the Russians in Kazakhstan portal in August 2012. The statements quoted by Primakov concerned, in particular, the comparison of Russians with the colonialists.

The Kremlin offered to judge the Kazakh minister by the statements that he will make in the new status.

Umarov then declared his commitment to fraternal relations with neighbors. “Regarding publications regarding demonization of my image. I am not who they are trying to portray me. In all previous positions, I tried to conduct fruitful work with Russian and other partners, ”he said.
