Lemon like lemon. Not quite.
Chef Risto Mikkola and Henry Lepist They tested the extremes of the store lemon selection, cheap and expensive.
The Coop lemon for sale in the S Group last week was the most affordable end and the Sorrento lemon bought from K-Market Red. The Sorrento area is known as lemons and the Limoncello liqueur. The Sorrento lemon has been awarded an Italian IGP initial label.
According to Mikkola, Coop cost two euros a kilo and Sorrento was seven euros a kilo.
Initially, the chefs sniffed the lemons, then the lemon peel was scratched with a grater and smelled again. Finally, the lemons were split and cut and tasted.
There were no differences in lemons in the first fragrance.
Instead, the taste test showed that there are significantly big differences in lemons. According to testers, the lemon of Sorrento is an overwhelming winner. It’s simply brilliantly tasting.
Coop lemon
Price: about 2 €/kg
Country: Spain
Comments:
– This is a darker color. It smells more and deeper when scratched.
– When you taste this first, you have a good and fresh taste.
– But when you taste after a sorrent, the taste changes. It is much more bitter and more acidic.
Sorrento lemon
Price: 7 €/kg
Country: Italy
Comments:
– Here’s the magazine, pretty nice.
– The sorrento bark is thicker than coop.
– The taste is in a class of its own, much more pleasant than in Coop.
– The structure of the flesh is quite different from the cheaper lemon. This crumbles and explodes in the mouth. It is fresh, acidic. Must taste more.
