Hamburg’s first division handball players have to worry about their future again. The Bundesliga only gave the HSVH the license for the new season under one condition.
HSV Hamburg is once again facing a tough fight for the Bundesliga. The handball Bundesliga (HBL) made the license allocation on Thursday to one condition: By May 5 (12 p.m.), the HSVH must prove that an existing liquidity gap has been closed.
If this does not succeed, the license is not granted – the HSVH would have to descend from the Bundesliga. The league association did not say how big the gap is.
HSVH managing director Christian Hüneburg was confident: “This year it is a significantly smaller sum than last season, and we are in a different situation today.” The HSVH was prepared for the condition and was prepared.
“It was clear to us all that after the difficulties in the previous year we could not immediately make perfect numbers,” said Hüneburg. The association can count on supervisory board member Philipp J. Müller, who helped significantly last year: “Our restructuring runs according to plan, and my personal commitment stands for the HSVH.” The association also has discussions with other supporters.
