Borussia Monchengladbach have reportedly received an official offer from Juventus for Denis Zakaria but turned it down. Reports from Italy said on Saturday afternoon that the offer would roughly cover the transfer expectations of the “foals”. “Sport1” (via Patrick Berger) but wrote a few hours later that the Bundesliga club would not respond to what is commonly referred to as an opening offer. Juve, who have previously been said to be interested in the defensive midfielder, could potentially go ahead and buy the 25-year-old outright, saving Gladbach a free transfer for the Swiss.

It has been known for a long time that Zakaria will leave Gladbach at the latest after the end of the contract in the summer (then without transfer). The offer from Juventus is estimated by the “Sky” reporters Gianluca Di Marzio and Fabrizio Romano at a total of 7 million euros. The editors of Di Marzio specified: Only 5 million euros would be the base fee. 2 million euros would be added with bonus payments. The asking price from Germany is estimated at around this sum of around 7 million or 8 million euros. At Borussia it would be the first transfer deal after the recently ended tenure of sports director Max Eberl, who retired for health reasons. As the kicker recently wrote, Steffen Korell is the interim negotiator in the club.

Reports about Zakaria have recently also been reported in a possible move to FC Bayern, where the defensive man is particularly suitable as an alternative in central defense according to sports director Hasan Salihamidzic. There are also rumors about a future at BVB or in the English Premier League. Zakaria had canceled the Gladbachers regarding an extension after the “foals” had demanded a concrete prospect. Eberl explained a few weeks ago: “With Zakaria, he told us that he would not accept the contract offer. Also because we wanted choices and those choices are on the table. That’s a good thing.”
