The A28 at Hoogeveen is closed for all traffic for all the coming weekends. The rest of the month work is done on the road, so that motorway traffic is also on the road outside the weekends.
From today, Rijkswaterstaat will be working on major maintenance between the Hoogeveen and Pesse junction. Tonight the road will close from 8 p.m. between Pesse and Knooppunt Hoogeveen. From tomorrow evening at 8 p.m., the road will also close in a northerly direction between Hoogeveen and Fluitenberg. On Monday morning the highway in both directions is partly accessible again.
The asphalt is replaced in both directions. The A28 was completely closed again on the weekend from 29 August to 1 September.
Between the weekends with full closure, road users must also take longer travel times into account. A roadway was closed between Pesse and Hoogeveen between Tuesday morning 19 and Friday 29 August. “The traffic runs on 1 lane, where 2 lanes are available per driving direction at a maximum speed of 70 kilometers per hour,” reports Rijkswaterstaat.
In addition to a new asphalt layer, maintenance is also being carried out on bridges, viaducts and verges. A diver under the A28 is also replaced. Since there is no traffic, there is also time for research into the railway tunnel. In the past, leaks in the tunnel caused a slippery highway in the winter. Now that the old asphalt is removed, it is better to look at the state underlying floor.
