At the Association Day in Frankfurt, the caves close a compromise. The athletes can now hope for regular support and ordered nominations according to the performance principle.
The German Association for the Modern Pentathlon (DVMF) first gained the curve on a long -winded, sometimes exciting, always controversial extraordinary extraordinary general meeting. After eight hours of mostly back room talks and tough negotiations, the officials prevented historical at the last second: the first handling of a German Olympic Sports Association this millennium.
They agreed on a compromise that no one had thought possible at the beginning of the day: The two Berlin officials Lutz Keister and Jan Langrehr, fathers of the top -class -ambitious five -way campers, but assigned to sports politically, were elected, vice presidents were elected and are supposed to conduct and fill up the association in Los Angeles in Los Angeles in 2028. “”The task for today was to get many from the comfort zone“, Said Keister, “The solution we have now could not be seen this morning.”
Hedge shooters and saboteure
At first not to make out so clearly in which chaos of the past few months were the saboteurs for outsiders. But the longer around the compromise was struggled in Frankfurt, the more clearly the protagonists, who might have even preferred the fall of the association to a loss of power. Above all, the regional associations from North Rhine-Westphalia and Bavaria, which have so far exploited the most blatant statutory weakness of the pentathlon, the purchase of election voices.
Bavaria’s head of state Olaf Kleidon, who had preferred to influence the association day, only had the legal committee until his dismissal on Sunday, who had provoked the power vacuum with the exclusion of former President Michael Dörr. In any case, his regional association did not agree to the compromises like NRW. But that didn’t matter.
Better in hidden
And his Bavarian Vice President Thomas Hierl tried to prohibit camera men at the beginning of the meeting day to film him at the public event. Experts could guess why: Hierl tries to gain power through the Saarland State Association. The responsible district court had already declared an alleged election invalid and confirmed its predecessor in office, but here, not without a certain cheek, voted for the Saarland. It just made no difference so that nobody took off.
Many in the German Association also find the man, who apparently prefers to operate in secret, because he is equipped with administrator rights for a key position of power: the computer program through which the state associations can acquire licenses for athletes that give them more votes.
And the troublemakers from North Rhine-Westphalia would like to have a federal base for modern pentathlon in Bonn, although so far all the prerequisites have been missing. And for the goal they were ready to sacrifice and smash those in Potsdam with the well -developed infrastructure. Such and similar egoisms and power games have brought the pentathlon in existence in recent years.
With the new staff, including a nomination committee, which is once again occupied by more specialist, who again decides according to performance criteria, the pentathlon could now be faced with a fresh start.
Blossom
In the end, the athletes probably owe it to their much -collected emergency board appointed by the district court that there is now a prospect of an orderly Olympic preparation again. At the meeting at the headquarters of the Hessian State Sports Association in Frankfurt, this Leonard Langenkamp took over the moderation of assembly and took advantage of every possible opportunity to illustrate the dispute officials with bluntly plain text what is at stake.
As early as his colleague Jan Veder, a presidential candidate and the Chaos Mitantian, the leadership threatened to slip away right from the start, Langenkamp bravely intervened: “Not just plared into the room. This is shit.” And towards the end when the compromise once again – as so often in the hours earlier – threatened to move away from tangible suddenly by new speeches, Langenkamp remembered the association representatives: “I am guaranteed not to extend my office. No new emergency board is appointed by the court. The next emergency board only comes to handle the association.”
Refurbishment canceled
He himself had been deployed because the last properly elected president had been spectacularly excluded by his legal committee, another member of the board voluntarily left and the Vice President Veder suddenly sat alone, although the statutes request a four-eye principle. And after two association days had chosen two different presidia at intervals of two days, the elections of which both were controversial. Without Langenkamp, the main financier of the pentathlon with 1.4 million euros, the federal government, would have continued to support its funding. Now the permanent approval of the promised funds.
The price for the compromise is not low: both parties want to refrain from dealing with all past sins and misconceptions. “I hope”, Langenkamp still applied to the officials “That they take the teachings from previous years.”
