For Anneke it is again an emotional period. Although she appreciates the support, the attentions and the sweet conversations of the customers, it is also a matter of telling the same story several times a day. That makes it hard for her. It makes her happy and sad at the same time.

The decision to stop with it was not easy. But, her conclusion is, it has been beautiful now. Next year she will be 75 years old. Running a store on your own three days a week is very tough, especially when you get older. She has earned her pension well, she says.

Just follow -up

Unfortunately it was not possible to find a successor. According to Anneke, a young couple were interested in the store and the upstairs apartment, where the entrepreneur still lives. Only the landlord threw a spanner in the works, says De Hilversumse. He would like to split the two spaces and rent them apart separately.

With that, the name RoRaade disappears from the Hilversum street scene after 122 years. The Kabboord family, which started in 1903 on the Groest and moved to Naarderstraat more than thirty years later, ceases to exist physically.

Roeraade will continue to exist

But the name stays alive. Annekes daughter will sell the famous homemade 25 different types of sambal online. The Hilversumse is clearly doing well that Rurdaade continues to exist in this way.

Anneke still keeps an eye on things at a distance, but will mainly enjoy her pension. She will not do that in Hilversum soon. “I’m leaving the country, I’m going to Brabant”, as she says to a customer, who settles a game of sambal.
