Footballer KV Oostende in danger of death after car crash

The accident took place on Sunday morning around 9:00 am on the E40 exit in Loppem towards Brussels. Dapo Mebude, a Scottish striker from football club KV Oostende lost control of his steering wheel and crashed into a tree. The fire brigade rushed to the scene to help the footballer out of the car. Mebude was taken by ambulance to the AZ Sint-Jan in Bruges. According to the West Flanders public prosecutor’s office, his life is in danger.

The prosecutor’s office reports that no other vehicles were involved in the accident. “A traffic expert has been appointed to investigate the precise circumstances of the accident.” The exit is currently closed. If you want to go to Loppem, you have to detour via Bruges.

KV Oostende has already announced that the practice match against FC Knokke has been cancelled. “Our thoughts are with Dapo and his family.”
