Jakov Jelkic in Spain has been missing since Saturday morning. Now it is clear: the young footballer is dead.
With his new teammates, Jakov Jelkic from the Swiss third division club FC Ganges-Paccot flew to Spanish Alicante on Friday. On Saturday morning, the 24-year-old was missing in his hotel room, was subsequently considered missing. Now, however, there is certainty: Jakov Jelkic is dead. This was confirmed by his club and sister on Instagram.
“We experienced from Jakov’s death with great grief. Our thoughts are with his family, his friends, his teammates and everyone who knew him closer or far,” wrote the club. “The memory of him will stay in our hearts forever. A friend, a teammate, an inspiration for all of us. Rest in peace.”
Janja Jelkic had again announced in terms of her brother: “Our son, brother, friend and colleague. In deep grief we say goodbye to a loved one who suddenly and far too early. His loss leaves a big gap in our hearts. We will always keep him loving memory. “
The deceased’s sister had started a call on Instagram two days earlier to find Jakov Jelkic. In it she wrote that this was said to have been seen in the area of the night club Upikum in Alicante on Saturday morning at around 2:30 a.m.
On Monday morning, she said to the Swiss “look”: “Jakov is a reliable person and very helpful. He is a very dear person, has an open ear for everyone.” And further: “Jakov is a decent young man with a good job. He didn’t have any money problems.”
In the meantime, it is assumed that Jelkic died from an accident. The Spanish police stated that divers of the Guardia Civial had recovered its body on Monday evening – from the port of Alicante. According to the autopsy, it is clear: there was no external influence.
According to “Valais Bote”, Jelkic is said to have forgotten his jacket the night before. Apparently he went back to get her, but lost his teammates. At shortly after three in the morning, a surveillance camera is said to have recorded it. Jelkic apparently went towards the harbor. That was reportedly the last sign of life of him.
The “look” in turn writes that Jelkic had searched the jacket together with a friend, but both of them had lost sight of each other. At 3:30 a.m. it is said to have been captured by the cameras near the hotel, his girlfriend still wrote “I am doing well”.
His absence on Saturday morning was noticed. Jelkic ‘players got a key to his room, it is said – and found that it was empty. As a result, they would have searched him, then informed the police. “We fear that something bad happened to him,” they are said to have told the officials. This tragic scenario was confirmed at the end.
