Residents of the three host countries are the most interest in tickets. According to FIFA, many Argentines, Colombians and Brazilians have also been registered. England, Spain, Portugal and Germany are at the forefront of Europe.
Registration was only possible with a Visa card. The provider of the payment card sponsors the World Football Association. Fans can register until September 19.
FIFA does not guarantee tickets for everyone
Chosen supporters will receive an e-mail with a date and time slot for ticket sales from 29 September. Individual tickets for all 104 World Cup matches are then available, but FIFA does not guarantee that everyone can buy tickets.
The second registration phase for tickets for the World Cup is expected to run from 27 to 31 October. Phase three starts after the draw for the group stage, which takes place in Washington on December 5.
