Football professional dies at Feuerdrama in night club

The North Macedonian football professional Andrej Lazarov wanted to save other guests in a fire in a club and died himself.
The 25 -year -old football professional Andrej Lazarov died in a devastating fire in a discotheque in Kočani, Northern Macedonia, when he tried to save other guests. The accident occurred in the “Pulse Club” in the early morning hours of Sunday and demanded at least 59 lives and over 155 injured.
Lazarov, player of the Macedonian first division club FC Shkupi, was recognized by his club as a “heroic person”. In a message, the association wrote: “With deep regret, we announced that our footballer Andrej Lazarov is one of the victims of the tragic fire in Kočani. When the heroic person he was, Lazarov lost his life to help others.” It also said: “During his brave effort, he was overwhelmed by the smoke. His bravery and humanity in these last moments will always be remembered.”
According to reports, the fire is said to have been triggered by sparks during a hip-hop concert at around 2.30 a.m., which came from pyrotechnics during a concert and inflamed an flammable blanket.
Interior Minister Pance Toskovski commented: “When activating the so -called sprinklers, the sparks started the ceiling made of slightly flammable material, which resulted in the fire over the entire discotheque within a very short time.”

Northern Macedonia’s Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski spoke of a “difficult and very sad day” and called for support for the families of the victims. He explained: “With deep regret, I received the news of the terrible tragedy in Kočani. This is a difficult and very sad day for Macedonia. The loss of so many young life is irreplaceable.” The investigation into the exact course of the fire is ongoing.
Lazarov was still in use for his club FC Shkupi on Saturday in the 0-1 defeat against Pelister Bitola. During the night he died tragically with the fire drama in his hometown.
