Tooor for Liverpool FC, 1-1 by Cody Gakpo
Gakpo equalizes worth seeing! What Salah failed to do a few seconds ago, the Dutchman completes perfectly: he moves inwards from the left and places the ball with great feeling in the far corner. Stolarczyk stretches in vain!

9:47 p.m
The crossbar saves Leicester! The Reds play an exemplary counterattack and break up the guests’ last chain well. Salah can place the ball on his strong left foot – but his shot doesn’t end up in the far corner, but instead hits the crossbar.

9:44 p.m

Yellow card for Jordan Ayew (Leicester City)
Gakpo moves inwards from the left and is tackled by two opponents. Justin can no longer get into the duel, but Ayew lets the Dutchman run up and stops the dribbling. He sees his 5th yellow card of the current season.

9:41 p.m
Leicester had advanced, but van Dijk read a pass to Daka very well and initiated a counterattack by the hosts. But the Foxes rush backwards quickly enough and El Khannouss jumps in at the back right against the advanced Mac Allister and clears for a throw-in.

9:37 p.m

Yellow card for Joe Gomez (Liverpool FC)
Once again, Leicester counterattacks and Daka cleverly crosses the path of pursuer Gomez in midfield. As a result, the central defender runs into his legs from behind and the referee gives a yellow card on top of the foul.

9:34 p.m
The hosts continue to let the ball run in the opponent’s half, but the Foxes are now defending it more consistently and thus preventing the league leaders from scoring chances.
30.
9:31 p.m
The Reds played 56 passes into the final third. There are only three at Leicester and yet the promoted team leads 1-0. The hosts have now increased their ball possession to over 70%, but when will they make it 1-1?
27.
9:28 p.m
Liverpool are now getting stronger by the minute, the game only takes place around the Foxes penalty area. The balance is in the air!
25.
9:27 p.m
Robertson heads the post! Alexander-Arnold serves his full-back colleague with a sensitive cross, the Scot heads the ball onto the right post. Leicester are now under a lot of pressure!
23.
9:24 p.m
Gakpo goes deep! Robertson sends the Dutchman from his own half with a high ball, the take-away at top speed is impressive. From close range, Gakpo can no longer get the ball pushed onto the goal and the replay shows that Liverpool’s number 18 was also a good two meters offside and the equalizer would not have counted.
20.
9:22 p.m
Leicester doesn’t take advantage of the counterattack! Núñez drops deep into midfield and initiates the guests’ counterattack with a fatal cross pass. Kristiansen intervenes and makes the game quick with a through pass to Mavididi – but the last pass into the penalty area to Daka turns out to be too long and Alisson Becker grabs it. There was more in it!
19.
9:20 p.m
Early in the game, Leicester parked the bus around their own box. Liverpool are having a hard time against low-lying guests and the fog is getting thicker and thicker. The visibility is really limitless!
15.
9:16 p.m
The hosts now hit cross after cross into the opponent’s penalty area, Núñez & Co. are lurking. But so far the Foxes have been defending it very concentratedly and blocking many crosses.
12.
9:14 p.m
Robertson puts striker Núñez in the spotlight with a cross from the left half of the field, but the ball only slips slightly over the Uruguayan’s head and he cannot direct it towards the goal. Goal kick Leicester!
11.
9:12 p.m
Slot notices that the deficit has thrown his team out of rhythm and is now standing on the sidelines, loudly giving instructions. But the Reds can’t really calm the game down.
9.
9:10 p.m
How does Liverpool react to the early goal? The visitors hardly ever had the ball until the score was 1-0, but Ayew’s goal seemed to have given the Foxes confidence. Justin takes the first corner for Leicester!
6.
9:07 p.m

Tooor for Leicester City, 0-1 by Jordan Ayew
And then the underdog scores! Liverpool are high and the offside trap doesn’t work – Mavididi isn’t properly attacked on the left and plays the ball flat to the penalty spot. Ayew physically shields the ball, turns on his own axis and sinks it flat into the left corner with his right hand!
4.
9:06 p.m
Almost 1-0! Gakpo lifts the leather from the left up to the second post, where Salah fails with his direct shot past debutant Stolarczyk. Jones doesn’t put the follow-up shot on goal because he takes too long near the six-yard box and is caught.
3.
9:04 p.m
Since the beginning, Leicester has only worked defensively against the ball. The Reds manage the ball and, as usual, involve the high full-backs in the offensive game!

9:01 p.m
The ball rolls and Anfield is enveloped in thick fog! In the afternoon there was also a cancellation, but the referees gave their okay.

Game start
8:44 p.m
The last Premier League games between Liverpool and Leicester took place in the 2022/23 season, and today’s hosts won both duels. Arne Slot’s team is the second best home team this season, while Leicester are third from bottom in the away table.
20:27
The Foxes’ self-confidence should be manageable after a 4-0 defeat against Newcastle and a 3-0 defeat against rivals Wolverhampton! Has the short-term upward trend already fizzled out after Ruud van Nistelrooy took over? For the guest appearance in Liverpool, the Dutchman is adjusting his team to X positions: Stolarczyk is in goal today instead of Ward (not in the squad) and is celebrating his starting eleven debut. Winks plays next to Soumaré in the double six and Skipp has to go to the bench. Daka, who was not used against Wolverhampton, starts in attack – Captain Vardy is not there today due to injury!
8:18 p.m
After the brilliant 6:3 against Tottenham, the Reds only made two adjustments in the offensive: With Díaz (two goals) and Szoboszlai (one goal, two assists), two players from the starting eleven were rotated, even though they delivered against Spurs. Núñez and Jones replace the two, joining Salah and Gakpo. Liverpool could give their own fans a belated Christmas present today and remain unbeaten for the 22nd (!) competitive game in a row. Arne Slot’s team only suffered one defeat in all competitions this season: Nottingham Forest caught the Reds on the wrong foot on matchday 4, after which the championship favorites remained without a slip-up.
20:11
The two clubs will meet in the Premier League for the 99th time! The starting position couldn’t be more different: The Reds are clearly leading the table and could increase their lead over Chelsea (lost to Fulham today) to seven points. Leicester, on the other hand, is having a hard time as a promoted team and rivals Wolverhampton seem to be scoring points against Manchester United at the same time. The Foxes only finish in 18th place with 14 points and that would mean direct relegation.
20:02
Good evening and welcome to Boxing Day in the English Premier League! Liverpool welcomes guests from Leicester at 9 p.m.
