Football legend Rinus Israel rejected from PEC – Feyenoord: “You are not a member”

Rinus Israel was planning to go to PEC Zwolle – Feyenoord on Sunday, but that party is cancelled. The 81-year-old former footballer of both clubs could not buy tickets for this match, because he is not a member of the Zwolle club. Israel made this outpouring on Saturday in the radio program NH Radio Sportcafé.

The football legend is best known for his period at Feyenoord, but in the past he also played in Zwolle at PEC from 1975 to 1982. The first three seasons in the first division, but then in the premier league.

The former football player called Zwolle last Monday. He wanted to be there on time. “I indicated that I would like two tickets, after which the lady on the phone asked if I was a member. I am not. I did not want free tickets, but just wanted to pay for them.”

Not entitled to anything

The lady then went to inquire with her manager. “She said that I was only entitled to tickets if I was still a PEC trainer a year ago,” Israel continues. “I replied out of anger that I had helped them to the Premier League. Unfortunately, I was not entitled to anything.”

Presenter Leo Driessen then asked if he would still like to do so. “Then I should definitely call again, I’m not going!”, was Israel’s clear answer.

The match kick-off is tomorrow at 12.15 pm. PEC Zwolle could not be reached for comment.
