There have been hardly any personnel changes at Barcelona compared to last season, so the starting eleven of the exceptional Spanish team continues to be dominated by Aitana Bonmatí, Patri Guijarro and Alexia Putellas. The Polish Ewa Pajor is on the offensive; she knows FC Bayern very well from duels with her former club VfL Wolfsburg.

In terms of personnel, Bayern’s new coach José Barcala cannot draw on the full potential as Dunst and Zadrazil will be out for a long time with knee injuries and Gilles and Damnjanović will now also have to take a break for at least a few weeks. Oberdorf and Naschenweng, on the other hand, are ready to play again, but are still being carefully introduced to the high pressure of the triple load – both are sitting on the bench at the beginning. Schüller starts in the attack today and Harder acts as a hanging striker, Bühl and Tanikawa play on the wings. With Dallmann, Gwinn and Şehitler, FCB still has a few well-known players available as jokers.

For FCB, with last year’s finalists Barcelona, there could hardly have been a more difficult task at the start of the Champions League. The Spaniards are in good form early in the season: Barcelona have won six games from six games and already have an impressive goal difference in the league at 30:1. Bayern took 13 out of 15 possible points and have even not conceded a goal this season!

For the first time, the women’s premier class will take place in the league phase instead of the group phase. By the end of the year, all teams expect six games each and then the quarter-finals continue. The best four teams from the league phase are automatically qualified and further tickets for the knockout round are awarded via playoffs for places 5-12. A total of 18 clubs are taking part – from Germany only VfL Wolfsburg and FC Bayern are there because Eintracht from Frankfurt failed in the second qualifying round to Real Madrid.
