The current season is anything but smooth for the reigning Spanish champions. In the cup, the Madrilenians were eliminated by Real Sociedad in the round of 16 and Atlético is only fifth in the league. As a result, they risk missing out on qualifying for the Champions League again. On the big stage, however, Diego Simeone and his team can now show that they can always be counted on in important encounters. They proved that in the group stage. Things didn’t go according to plan for the Colchoneros there either, but they managed to beat Porto 3-1 in the decisive game.
