Aside from the sporting success, there are disputes behind the scenes at VfB Stuttgart. On Tuesday there were the first consequences: Claus Vogt had to vacate his position as head of the supervisory board – a former minister took over.

VfB Stuttgart has reorganized its supervisory board. The Swabians announced this on Tuesday afternoon. Accordingly, club president Claus Vogt had to vacate his position as chairman of the supervisory board of VfB Stuttgart 1893 AG. In his place, Tanja Gönner is the first woman to take on this position. According to VfB Stuttgart, this was necessary “in order to be able to professionally accompany, control and promote the work of the board”. However, Vogt remains president of the association and a member of the supervisory board.

Patron was also appointed to the supervisory board by the association. The 54-year-old was a member of the German Bundestag for the CDU and held various ministerial positions in the state of Baden-Württemberg from 2004 to 2011. From 2012 to 2022 she was board spokeswoman for the German Society for International Cooperation. “I assure all members that I will represent the interests of the association in all important decisions in close communication with them,” Gönner is quoted as saying in the association’s press release. “I attach great importance to intensive cooperation with the Presidium and the Board of Directors.”
