Football, Bundesliga: Hertha BSC puts coach Tayfun Korkut on leave – Bundesliga – football

On Sunday morning (03/13/2022) Hertha announced that the 47-year-old Korkut had to vacate his post as a coach. After the 0: 2 at Borussia Mönchengladbach the day before, the decision was indicated.

“We are currently in a relegation zone. There are still eight games left to get the necessary points to stay up. We will do everything we can to achieve this and with this decision we want to help everyone involved to be even more sensitive to the situation. We are counting on it the positive effects of a fresh start,” managing director Fredi Bobic is quoted as saying in the club’s statement.

“I also know that nobody is above the club,” Korkut said on Saturday after the Berliners slipped to 17th place in the table and thus a direct relegation zone. On Sunday he said goodbye with the words: “Unfortunately, for various reasons, we could not keep the good start of our work.”

Korkut’s assistant Ilija Aračić has also been put on leave. Hertha wants to introduce a new head coach “as soon as this personnel issue has been finally clarified”.
