Football, Bundesliga, 18th matchday: Bayern Munich – Borussia Moenchengladbach 1: 2 – Bundesliga – football

Lewandowski meets the Bayern leadership

The severely decimated Munich team determined the action in the first 25 minutes and were the much more dangerous team. Robert Lewandowski was once again Bayern’s most conspicuous attacker. Yann Sommer from Poland tested for the first time after 14 minutes. The Gladbach goalkeeper was able to parry this attempt.

Three minutes later, however, the ball wriggled to make the FCB 1-0 lead in the Gladbach network. Lewandowski left BMG defender Nico Elvedi and closed from 13 meters with great force in the right corner. The Bavarians also dominated in the episode. Nevertheless, the Gladbachers managed to equalize after 27 minutes.

Gladbach fights his way into the game

Florian Neuhaus came to the ball by chance in the unsorted Bayern defense and was able to overcome goalkeeper Sven Ullreich completely uncovered from twelve meters to make it 1-1. From that moment on, the team from Niederrhein took the courage and even took the lead. Stefan Laimer screwed himself up after a corner kick and nodded the ball just four minutes later to make it 2-1. Two goals with up to this point two shots on goal testified to the considerable effectiveness of the guests.

An open game developed, in which the team of coach Julian Nagelsmann got increasingly problems. Neuhaus and attacker Breel Embolo both failed shortly before the break when FCB goalkeeper Ulreich was brilliantly parried. Lewandowski still had the equalizer on the foot, almost hit from the baseline but only the post of the Gladbach goal.

Bavaria’s printing phase

With the restart, Bayern tried to equalize as quickly as possible. Musiala (55th), however, initially failed due to summer. And Thomas Müller (59th) and Kimmich (60th), who were less conspicuous overall, did not bring the ball past the Gladbach goalkeeper from a promising position. Lewandowski hit the housing of the Gladbach goal again shortly afterwards (62nd).

But the team of coach Adi Hütter survived this pressure phase of Bayern unscathed with luck and skill and the team then concentrated mainly on preventing a goal. The Bavarians lacked the power and sovereignty in front of the opposing goal that were otherwise feared in the Bundesliga.
