A fast-paced encounter ends goalless in the catacombs. After a nerve-wracking initial phase in which Duisburg in particular caused a sensation and should have taken the lead thanks to Ginczek’s early chance in the second minute, the game tipped over little by little. An optical preponderance of SC Preußen Münster resulted in Bitter being sent off in the 26th minute. Since this sending off, the encounter became more open again and both teams often appeared in the opponent’s half.
