Only two years after Josh Freese took over the post of the late drummer Taylor Hawkins at the Foo Fighters, it is over again. Like the renowned drummer, which has already worked on Instagram with a number of well -known acts, including Nine Inch Nails and Guns N ‘Roses, was unexpectedly thrown out of the band.
Josh Freese: surprised by discharge at Foo Fighters
“The band called me at the beginning of the week and said that they wanted to continue with another drummer,” Freese writes in a statement. “I have enjoyed with them for the past two years, on and behind the stage. And I support whatever they think is the best,” said the musician.
The separation apparently does not only come as a surprise to fans. “I have never flown out of a band in 40 years as a professional drummer,” explains the 51-year-old. “I’m not angry – just a little shocked and disappointed.” Freese tries to take sports. He explains that he works as a freleance drummer anyway and constantly changing between bands. He is doing well, so Freese.
An official reason for the expulsion has not yet been mentioned – so far there is no comment from the band. It is currently still unclear who will be sitting on drums at the band around Dave Grohl in the future. His statement even ends with a little joke: “Stay on my list ‘Top 10 possible reasons why Josh flew out at the Foo Fighters,” writes Freese.
The statement in the wording:
The Foo Fighters called me on Monday evening to tell me that they decided to ‘want to continue with another drummer’. No reason was mentioned. š
Anyway – I have enjoyed with them for the past two years, both on stage and away from it, and I support whatever they think is the best for the band.
In my 40 years as a professional drummer I have never been thrown out of a band, so I’m not angry – just a little shocked and disappointed.
But as most of you know, I have always worked freelance and switched between bands back and forth – so I’m fine. It remains for my list ‘Top 10 possible reasons why Josh flew out at the Foo Fighters’. “
