Dave Grohl has revealed that new Foo Fighters songs are already complete and will be released before his next birthday.
The Foo Fighters have recorded the follow-up to BUT HERE WE ARE. This is what frontman Dave Grohl told his audience on Saturday (January 24th). The band’s concert in Launceston (Tasmania, part of Australia).
The singer confirmed that the Foo Fighters finished “a record of new songs a day ago.” He just didn’t want to give a release date, but joked that the LP would be released before his next birthday.
Specifically he said:
“We’ll be back here sooner than you think. I know when we’ll be back! It’s before my next birthday, just so you know. And we might even have a whole new album of damn good songs that we just finished.”

Foo Fighters: New songs, new era
Anyone who isn’t very familiar with Grohl matters can quickly take out the calendar and notice that the former Nirvana drummer had his special day on January 14th, a few days ago, and turned 57 years old. This means: The Foo Fighters’ new album should be released by the beginning of January 2027.
Last year the band released two new songs, “Today’s Song” and “Asking For A Friend.” This summer they are going on a stadium tour. Queens Of The Stone Age are there in the USA. There are also two Germany gigs:
- June 17, 2026: Munich, Allianz Arena
- July 1, 2026: Berlin, Olympic Stadium
The trip to the other end of the world will not be followed by any further dates in the land of kangaroos and koalas. The Foo Fighters announced a new era of their music last year, after their last record BUT HERE WE ARE 2023 was the first that was no longer produced with the late drummer Taylor Hawkins.
