Foo Fighters continue after drummer’s death, but become ‘different’ band | show

The Foo Fighters have made official statements about the band’s future for the first time since drummer Taylor Hawkins’ death in March. The American group announced on social media on Saturday that it will continue, but indicates that it will be ‘different’ without Hawkins. The band does not report on a replacement.

“Without Taylor we could never have become the band we were,” write the Foo Fighters. “And without Taylor, we’re sure we’ll be a different band in the future.”

The band promises to return to the stage soon. “We know you, the fans, meant as much to Taylor as he did to you. And we know that when we see you again, and soon, his spirit will be with us every night.”

Hawkins died unexpectedly this year at the age of 50. The Foo Fighters canceled the remaining performances of their tour. In September, the band performed again for the first time at two benefit concerts organized in honor of Hawkins. The drummer had been with Foo Fighters since 1997, a few years after its foundation.
