After the loss of midfield ace Jude Bellingham, Borussia Dortmund continues to work on the successor. Ajax clearer Edson Álvarez has long been considered a dream player. However, BVB is apparently in no hurry with the Mexican.

As “Sky” journalist Florian Plettenberg reports, the deal with the 25-year-old is not currently the top priority for the Black and Yellows. The aim is therefore to first complete the commitment of Wolfsburg’s Felix Nmecha. Only then is the full focus on Álvarez.

According to “Bild” and “Wolfsburger Allgemeine”, the negotiations with Nmecha have recently resulted in a breakthrough. The talks with the German international are said to be on the home stretch. BVB will probably put 15 to 20 million euros on the table for Nmecha.

The transfer is not without controversy among Borussia fans. In the past, the VfL star has repeatedly attracted attention on social networks with homophobic comments.

Recently, however, he had distanced himself from it and emphasized on Instagram: “It is important that I make it clear that I really love ALL people and do not discriminate against anyone.” The allegations were also a topic in the discussions with the BVB leadership.

Álvarez supposedly only wants to go to BVB

In the case of Álvarez, the negotiations are said not to have progressed that far. According to “Sky”, Ajax is now demanding 45 to 50 million euros for the midfielder. BVB allegedly turned down their last offer of 35 million euros.

Now the black and yellow should prepare another offer according to “Sky” information. When exactly this will reach Ajax is open. So far there has only been loose contact between the clubs. According to the report, the people of Amsterdam are in no hurry. An agreement of around 40 million euros is expected. In addition, the now usual bonus payments should come.

Apparently things are going more positively with the player himself. According to Plettenberg, they are getting closer and closer, but a final agreement has not yet been reached here either.

However, the Revierklub does not seem to be too afraid of other competitors who could dispute a change of legal footing.

The top management is sure that Álvarez has been convinced, Plettenberg continued. The designated successor to Bellingham is also in no hurry.

Most recently, media reports already said that the two-time Dutch champion could only imagine a move to Dortmund.
