Flörsch and Goethe go empty handed in the rain poker

In the rain poker at Silverstone, Sophia Flörsch and Oliver Goethe again failed to score points. In the sprint race of the Formula 3 junior series, the 22-year-old from Munich improved from 28th place on the grid to at least 19th place in the PHM, the German-Danish Goethe (Trident) finished 17th.

Victory on Saturday went to Argentinian Franco Colapinto, the Williams-sponsored MP driver stayed on dry tires when it started to rain. In fact, only parts of the track were noticeably wet, the course dried off quickly. Goethe’s Brazilian teammate Gabriel Bortoleto also successfully played poker with the slicks and, coming second, further extended his championship lead.

Flörsch experienced a little motorsport drama in Spielberg last Sunday. At first she was the first woman to finish in the points in Formula 3 – but in the evening she was disqualified for violating the technical regulations.

The end plates on the front wing of their PHM car did not comply with the regulations, which was determined during a routine inspection. It was a millimeter decision and it cost Flörsch her historic result, the German was taken out of the classification.

On Sunday (9:20 a.m.) the main race takes place in Silverstone, in which Goethe starts from a promising second place.
