Liverpool suffered a surprise defeat against bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League. Despite an equalizer from Mohamed Salah in the 83rd minute, the team lost to a late goal from André in stoppage time.
Liverpool dominated the game at the Molineux Stadium but were unable to create any decisive chances. Cody Gakpo hit the crossbar just after halftime when he tipped the ball away from Curtis Jones. Wolverhampton took the lead with Rodrigo Gomes’ first shot on goal in the 78th minute. Mohamed Salah equalized before André scored the winner for the hosts in stoppage time.
The absence of Florian Wirtz (back problems), who will also miss Friday’s FA Cup game against Wolverhampton, could further weaken Liverpool. National players Kevin Schade and Anton Stach also experienced setbacks with their teams FC Brentford and Leeds United, who were unable to win.
