Florian Krüger leaves Arminia Bielefeld towards FC Groningen

14th dismount since relegation

Florian Krüger (23) is leaving Arminia Bielefeld for FC Groningen – both clubs announced the transfer on Tuesday morning. Groningen, where he has signed a contract until 2026 with an option for a further year, is the striker’s first international posting of his career.

The former junior international only came to Arminia last summer for a transfer fee of one million euros from FC Erzgebirge Aue, where his contract originally ran until 2025. The attacker was not able to establish himself as an undisputed regular in the Ostwestfalen team, has made 29 appearances (one goal/two assists) between the starting XI and the bench, and since his arrival in Bielefeld his market value has fallen from EUR 4 million to currently EUR 1.8 million. Krüger is Arminia’s 14th departure since Bundesliga relegation.

“Frank Wormuth and I have known Florian for a long time. I saw him play in the Schalke 04 youth team where he became top scorer. Frank and I talked about bringing him to Heracles Almelo, but then Florian decided to continue his career in Germany. Now he came back onto the radar and we acted very quickly. It was a matter of timing. We are very happy that we were able to win him for FC Groningen,” commented technical director Mark-Jan Fledderus on the signing.
