Two weeks after his collapse, Edoardo Bove returns to his team. His teammates welcomed him warmly.

A moving moment at Fiorentina: Edoardo Bove returned to his team two weeks after his dramatic collapse. The 22-year-old midfielder, who was taken to hospital after collapsing, has since left and was warmly welcomed by his teammates upon his return to the team.

A video released by the club shows Bove entering the team meeting in his training outfit and flip flops. His colleagues, including national player Robin Gosens, greet him with collective applause. In other scenes he can be seen on the club premises, including playing a game of billiards.

Bove suddenly collapsed on the pitch in the league game against Inter Milan two weeks ago. The game was initially interrupted and then abandoned. According to Italian media reports, the cause of Bove’s collapse was an inflammation of the heart muscle. He was initially given a temporary defibrillator – a measure that could now influence his sporting future. In Italy, professional footballers are actually banned from playing with an implanted defibrillator.

A similar case occurred three years ago when Danish international Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch during a European Championship game. He also had a defibrillator implanted. Eriksen, who was playing for Inter Milan at the time, was unable to continue his career in Italy. He moved to the Premier League in England, where he initially played for Brentford FC and currently for Manchester United.

For Bove, a return to the Serie A pitch is therefore questionable. What happens next for the talented midfielder remains to be seen.
