Floor Jansen sings the Wilhelmus during the Grand Prix of Zandvoort on Sunday 4 September. That was announced on Radio 538 on Thursday.
The singer from Goirle thus succeeds Davina Michelle, who performed the Wilhelmus during last year’s edition.
“I am extremely honored to be able to perform our national anthem at this global event,” the singer said. “I hope that the national anthem will give the drivers and fans as much energy as me.”
Jansen has been playing in large, international stadiums for years as the singer of the symphonic metal band Nightwish. In the Netherlands she recently received even more attention because of her participation in the program Beste Zangers, in which she performed a unique version of The Phantom of the Opera with opera singer Henk Poort. She also won the Dutch Pop Prize 2019.
