Floods in Iran kill 24 people | Abroad

Heavy rain and flooding in the western village of Emamzadeh Davud and the regions of Firuzkuh, Roudehen and Damavand in eastern Tehran have killed 24 people. “The search for the 19 missing persons continues,” the Iranian Red Cross said.

Iran has suffered many droughts in the past decade, but also regularly suffers from flooding from torrential rains. Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi said today that 18 provinces have been affected by flooding. The city center of Yazd, located in the center of the country and included on the UNESCO World Heritage List, would also be affected.
