Flensburg loses despite catching up in Paris

The German handball runners-up SG Flensburg-Handewitt suffered a setback in the Champions League despite catching up.

After the 30:33 (13:17) at the French top club Paris St. Germain, the team of coach Maik Machulla is threatened with the end of the group phase.

Flensburg are fifth with nine points and need to finish Group B at least sixth to qualify for the knockout stages. There are still two games to play.

On Thursday, the North Germans ran behind a deficit from the start, which at times grew to six goals. But when goalkeeper Benjamin Buric improved after initial problems and repeatedly made good saves, the guests fought back.

Despite the seven goals of the most successful thrower Franz Semper Flensburg did not turn the game. Luc Steins, who also scored seven goals, towered over PSG.
