Performing in Ahoy can be crossed off his wish list. What is the next goal for Flemming, who presented a solo show to 16,000 fans on Saturday evening? The 29-year-old native of Den Bosch makes no secret of the fact that he sees the Eurovision Song Contest as a serious challenge. He tells Omroep Brabant that it is not a question of if, but when he will go.

Flemming thought it was very logical that he would perform alone in Rotterdam and not in the Amsterdam Arena or the Ziggo Dome. He has a thing for Ahoy and enjoyed playing there during ‘Friends of Amstel LIVE!’ and thinks Rotterdam is a beautiful city: “Rotterdam is my second home.”

And Queen once performed there with lead singer Freddie Mercury. Flemming’s middle name is named after Freddie Mercury. “It’s cool that you have performed in a hall with so much history. And now I have given a concert there myself. And who knows, I may have sat in the same dressing room as Queen. That is quite a thrill.”

What are his plans now? First enjoy it and then perhaps the Ziggo Dome will come into view. “And I would also like to do something like that in Den Bosch,” says Flemming, without going into more detail about this.

He seriously wants to examine the Eurovision Song Contest option, as he, as an unknown Flemming, once said to our reporter in 2019. “That’s right,” he says, beaming from ear to ear. “It’s still there. I would think it would be really cool, but the question is when. I didn’t think this, in front of sixteen thousand fans in Ahoy, was that scary, but in front of so many millions of people, representing the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest, I find that exciting.”

Mother Asha doesn’t want to think about it. “I already thought Ahoy was very exciting. If he starts doing that, I will die.” But the time has not yet come, says Flemming. “I should first take the time to sit down, write a song and what I would like to do with it. But it is not a question of if I will go, but rather when I will go.”
