Phoebe Waller-Bridge is working on a series based on the Tomb Raider video game series. She is writing the scripts for the Amazon Prime Video production and will serve as an executive producer “The Hollywood Reporters”.

The project is still in the development phase. Aubrey Plaza wants to play the main character Lara Croft in the series. Who will ultimately be cast for this has not yet been determined. However, Waller-Bridge will not play.

“Tom Raider” was first released in 1996 for the PC and the Playstation, followed by several parts. In 2013, the series got a reboot – the release is a fresh start to the game series and sheds light on the origins of the main character. Amazon Games announced another remake of the game.

A movie based on the game was released in 2001, followed by a sequel in 2003. Angelina Jolie starred in both films. A remake starring Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft was added in 2018.

Waller-Bridge is known as an author and actress. Her artistic breakthrough came with “Fleabag”. In 2021 she wrote the screenplay for the Bond film No Time to Die. In the upcoming Indiana Jones part “The Call of Destiny” she plays Indi’s goddaughter Helena.
