Actor and artist Matthias Schoenaerts has been appointed curator for the anniversary edition. The Crystal Ship wants to appeal to a broader international audience and at the same time focus on young talent. Since the first edition, Ostend has grown into an open-air museum with more than 100 works of street art.
For the tenth anniversary, there will also be an exhibition and an international conference on street art. Flanders emphasizes that with this support it focuses on events with a high profile. “Every year we select top events from Flanders that attract an audience that goes much wider than the local level, often also internationally. This is certainly the case with The Crystal Ship,” says Flemish Minister of Tourism Melissa Depraetere. “The festival is accessible and gives young artists the opportunity to show their work to a wide audience.”
