A major fire broke out at a company on Houtbroekdijk in Someren on Monday evening. Three warehouses are completely on fire and have partially collapsed. During the fire, continuous bangs can be heard, possibly from gas bottles and tires exploding. A lot of smoke can be seen in the surrounding area.
There is a building materials company on the site for earthworks and demolition works, transport and container rental. It is unclear what exactly is in the warehouses. There might be trucks there.
Big cloud of smoke
The fire produces a lot of smoke. A large cloud of smoke can be seen in the surrounding area, moving towards the center of Someren. The safety region advises to stay away from smoke and close windows and doors.
The fire brigade is trying to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings in the area. As a precaution, the thatched roof of the farm across the street is sprayed with water.
It is unclear whether there were people in the building when the fire broke out, nor is it clear whether anyone was injured.
‘Very big fire’
The fire in the warehouse broke out around ten past nine. Less than ten minutes after the first report, the fire brigade scaled up to a ‘very large fire’.
A fifth firefighting vehicle is on its way. The fire brigade is busy building a water system so that there is enough extinguishing water.
Nothing is known about the cause of the fire.
