Flamboyant restart of the second division: AFC and Jong FC Volendam give away the lead

For the first time since December, the ball rolled back into the second division this afternoon. AFC and Jong FC Volendam both failed to finish the game. The team from Amsterdam still had one point left in the match against Excelsior Maassluis, while the team from Volendam in Scheveningen was left empty-handed.

Scheveningen – Young FC Volendam

Young FC Volendam quickly fell behind in Scheveningen, because within three minutes it was behind. The team of trainer Kiki Musampa turned the game around on the basis of Koen Blommestijn. The striker scored two goals: 1-2.

Scheveningen, however, quickly put things in order and came alongside. A goal from Peters meant that the home side went into halftime with a tie. In the 67th minute, the same Peters gave his team the lead, which Scheveningen would not give away.

Excelsior Maassluis – AFC

On a visit to Excelsior Maassluis, AFC took the lead just before half-time. Joel Tillema took advantage of a penalty kick and put Uli Landvreugd’s team ahead against the mid-engine. AFC, the number four in the second division, failed to extend the lead and let Excelsior Maassluis come alongside. Gijs Abbas scored the equalizer ten minutes after the break: 1-1.

Tomorrow Royal HFC will play against Jong Sparta Rotterdam at 2.30 pm.
