Coming from sister club in summer
RB Leipzig has signed Nicolas Seiwald. After the upcoming transfer had been reported in the past few days, the Saxons reported completion on Sunday evening. The 21-year-old midfielder will come from the sister club in Salzburg in the summer and will have a contract until June 30, 2028.
“We are extremely happy that we can welcome Nicolas Seiwald as a new signing in Leipzig in the summer. Nici is a strong box-to-box player who has developed tremendously in recent years. Despite being only 21 years old, he was able to gain a lot of experience in the men’s division and also draw attention to himself at the highest level in the Champions League,” Leipzig’s sports director Max Eberl is quoted as saying in the report.
With Seiwald: These players switched from Red Bull Salzburg to RB Leipzig
Seiwald is the 20th player to move from Salzburg to Leipzig. The Austrians confirmed that the German Bundesliga club pulled the exit clause originally set out in the contract, which was still valid until 2026, and which was reportedly around 20 million euros in line with the market value. In the list of Salzburg’s most expensive departures, he ranks ninth together with Erling Haaland. Leipzig has so far spent seven times more money on a new signing.

Seiwald said of his move to Germany: “I’ve actually spent my entire footballing life at Salzburg. I’ve been here since the U9. There were 13 fantastic years that I was able to experience at Salzburg. I’ll enjoy every day here until the end of the season and keep going at full throttle. My clear goal is to say goodbye to Salzburg with the championship title. And then I’m really looking forward to the new challenge at a great club. This will be a very important step in my career, which I am really looking forward to.”
