Fix: Omar Marmoush to Eintracht Frankfurt – free transfer from VfL Wolfsburg

Should make offensive more flexible

The long-awaited transfer of Omar Marmoush to Eintracht Frankfurt is perfect. After the 24-year-old VfL Wolfsburg striker is said to have completed his medical check-up with the Hessians weeks ago, they officially presented their second new signing for the coming season on Monday. Marmoush is on a free transfer as his contract with the Wolves expires on June 30 – the Egyptian international has signed until 2027 in Frankfurt. Eintracht had previously signed defender Willian Pacho (21) for 9 million euros without bonuses from Antwerp.

“With Omar Marmoush we were able to sign a player who will give our offensive even more flexibility with his skills,” said Eintracht sporting director Markus Krösche. “Omar has already proven his qualities in the Bundesliga and at the same time still has great potential for development. We are happy that we were able to win such an exciting and talented player for Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer.”

Marmoush said goodbye to VfL at the end of April. At the time, he said of the club, for which he had been playing since 2017: “I had a good time in Wolfsburg and I would like to thank those responsible for giving me the opportunity to continue to develop through the two loans.” For it was “time to take another step,” said Marmoush. “I will give everything until the end of the season to achieve our goals together with the team.”

Wolfsburg had signed Marmoush from his hometown of Wadi Degla FC six years ago and initially trained him in the regional league team that was still active at the time. The fast and technically strong attacker made his Bundesliga debut under Oliver Glasner in May 2020 at the age of 21 in a 4-1 win in Leverkusen. Overall, Marmoush made 46 appearances for VfL (6 goals/1 assist), 34 of them in the current season. In January 2021 he moved to second division club FC St. Pauli on loan for the second half of the season and spent the 2021/22 season in the Bundesliga with VfB Stuttgart.
