Fix: Manga talent scout leaves Eintracht Frankfurt – change to Watford

Move to Watford planned

After Sven Mislintat left VfB Stuttgart, Eintracht Frankfurt also announced a serious change in the sporting field on Wednesday. As the Hessians announced, Ben Manga, director of professional football, will leave the club with immediate effect. “Both parties agreed today on an amicable separation and terminated the contract, which ran until 2026,” it said. Manga recently deposited his wish to leave Eintracht “in trusting and constructive discussions”. The Frankfurt team complied with this due to the merits of the 48-year-old. Manga is likely to go to the English Championship.

“Ben has done an excellent job in his role as chief scout over the past few years and has played a large part in the success. This deserves absolute respect and recognition. Six and a half years is a long time in football. It is all the more important to us that the parting is amicable and respectful. This also applies to other employees from the scouting area who will leave us in the course of this,” explained sporting director Markus Krösche.

Manga said: “Thank you for six and a half great years at Eintracht. There were many beautiful moments and great successes to celebrate. It was a very intense and unforgettable time for me, but now I want to open a new chapter. That was not a decision against Eintracht, but for a new path. I would like to thank the club management for the constructive and respectful discussions. It is very important to me that we part on good terms.”

Manga probably switches to Watford: disagreement on direction of SGE scouting?

“Sky” and then “Bild” and “Kicker” had recently reported on the imminent separation. Accordingly, Manga is drawn to the English second division club Watford, where he is to become sports director. An official confirmation is still awaited. Noisy “hr sport” the Manga in Frankfurt was also made for reasons of content, because there were different views on the future direction of scouting.

In Frankfurt, Manga was responsible for the discovery of players such as Omar Mascarell, Luka Jović, Daichi Kamada, Tuta, Evan Ndicka and most recently Randal Kolo Muani, all of whom experienced significant increases in market value on the Main. The ex-professional from Equatorial Guinea was referred to in fan circles as “Pearl Diver”, “Eagle Eye” or “Gold Eye”. According to “Bild”, Manga has not had a good relationship with Krösche, who has been the sports director since last year. In addition, the former chief scout is accused of not having made enough public appearances even after his rise in the club.
