After some major right-wing media, five mega-donors of the Republican Party have now also openly turned their backs on former US President Donald Trump. He announced his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election on Tuesday, but he seems to be having a harder time than the previous two times to get a majority of Republicans behind him in the primaries. Let a majority of all Americans stand on November 5, 2024.

LOOK. Donald Trump announces that he is running for president in 2024. The energy and enthusiasm are not immediately dripping off.
Media magnate and billionaire Rupert Murdoch made it clear last week that he would not support a new Trump candidacy. Murdoch has several major right-wing media outlets in his portfolio, such as Fox News and the New York Post, which have consistently played the Trump card in recent years. But in recent days they have called him responsible for “one Republican fiasco after another.”
Five Republican mega-donors have now also turned their backs on Trump. They call for new faces who can guide the party into the future.
Metal magnate
Among them is Andy Sabin, a New York metal magnate who, like Murdoch, now appears to be aligning himself with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The latter has not yet submitted his candidacy, but he is currently considered the alternative to Trump.
“He (Trump, ed.) doesn’t get a f***ing cent,” Sabin told CNBC news channel. “People stayed at home (during the Midterms, ed.) by Trump. He supported candidates who didn’t necessarily have the right qualifications, but simply said ‘I love you, Donald’.”
The same story with Kenneth C. Griffin, a wealthy entrepreneur, investor and hedge fund manager. He told Politico that Trump had done good things, but had also missed the ball a few times. “It’s time for the next generation,” said Griffin, who also supports DeSantis.
Ronald Lauder, billionaire heir to the Estée Lauder fortune, also said he will not put any money into Trump’s campaign. That’s what his spokesperson told CNBC.
And billionaires Steve Schwarzman and Thomas Peterffy also have no money ready for Trump. At least not Schwarzman in the Republican primaries, where he wants to support someone from a next generation. He has not yet announced who that will be.
Negatives
Peterffy will vote for Trump if he wins the Republican party’s nomination, but he hopes it won’t come to that. “We need a new face,” he told Bloomberg. “The problem with Trump is that he has so many flaws. He never gets elected. Point.”
