At the Nordic Ski World Cup six years ago, Austria’s combined team won bronze. But the result is now canceled.
Another time, a doping offense leads to the re -awarding of medals: After the German season at the 2014 Olympics, the Nordic combiners at the 2019 World Cup.
In the relay competition of the Nordic combiners on March 2, 2019 in Seefeld, Norway prevailed in the final sprint in front of Germany. Behind the two teams, Austria initially finished third with Bernhard Gruber, Mario Seidl, Franz-Josef Rehrl and Lukas Klapfer-only five seconds behind the winners. But this bronze medal is now history.
The reason: Mario Seidl was transferred to the doping. As the Ski World Association FIS confirmed on Tuesday, the Austrian team loses its podium. In the official list of results, the Japanese relay with Go Yamamoto, Yoshito Watabe, Hideaki Nagai and Akito Watabe is now making third place.
Seidl’s lock was already initiated by the Austrian anti-doping agency NADA in 2020. However, the procedure became known to the public later. In May of this year, the International Sports Court CAS rejected an appointment of the 32-year-old against his lock.
