The first scenes from Indiana Jones 5 have landed online! Disney and Lucasfilm released the first trailer on Thursday (December 1st). There is also confirmation that the film will be called “Dial of Destiny”. The title was recently leaked. In the German version it will be called “Indiana Jones and the Call of Destiny”.

The first scenes show a naturally aged Indiana Jones, who the 80-year-old Harrison Ford plays with just as much boyish charm as once, so that it is hardly noticeable how much he has aged. Some trick technique also helps to see him in his younger version as well. It’s also a real nostalgia project.

While a sequence shows him symbolically putting his famous hat back on, Indiana Jones explains from the off that he doesn’t actually believe in magic, but has experienced a lot that cannot be explained with words. Of course we know that’s true – and we see action pictures by the meter. So there isn’t much time to catch your breath (like there was still part of in “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”).

No Treasure Hunts Pension for Indiana Jones

Indiana Jones 5 – Dial of Destiny has been announced for a theatrical release in June 2023. According to The Hollywood Reporter, part of the story takes place in the late 1960s and deals with what happens to Indy when he is (not entirely willingly) pulled out of retirement.

For the first time in the series, the director is not Steven Spielberg, but James Mangold (“The Greatest Showman”). Harrison Ford will be joined by Mads Mikkelsen, Antonio Banderas, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and German actor Thomas Kretschmann.

It is produced by Spielberg and Indy creator George Lucas. The start of production had been postponed countless times in advance, so that “Indiana Jones 5” set a new Hollywood negative record. According to Harrison Ford, it will be the last time he will appear on screen as Indy.
