The New Music Competition 2026 will fill in the Nokia Arena in Tampere on 28 February.
According to the release, a record number of songs, a total of 491 songs, were sent to the race this year.
Seven UMK competitors and songs have been selected for the competition. The artists involved in UMK will be announced on a live TV broadcast Wed 14.1.2026 and the songs with music videos one per week from 15th to 23rd January.
The UMK bulletin also describes the first tips on competitors.
– This season’s artist and songwriting shows one of the charismatic performers of his primary publication at UMK, an artist who represents a current sound, an internationally sought-after audience, a pioneer of his own genre, a two-owned performer appealing duo, a dramatic pop-up of the magnificent pop of the splendid. Artist, hints at UMK’s professional jury chairman and editor -in -chief of Yle Music Tapio Hakanen in the bulletin.
UMK’s song and artist choices were also performed this year, with several jury, the largest of which was on a jury of music professionals.
In addition, the selections were influenced by five public rays, invited by a diverse number of representatives in different fields.
This year UMK was won by Erika Vikman, who represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest ICH KONE by the song.
