The first preview of the highly anticipated Beatles films directed by Sam Mendes has been released.
On Thursday (January 29), the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts – the school founded by Paul McCartney and Mark Featherstone-Witty – teamed up with Sony Pictures UK for a marketing campaign honoring the Fab Four.
Postcards of Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr were hidden throughout the institute, and the lucky students who found them were encouraged to tag the art institute’s social networks to spread the word about the upcoming project.
Four Beatles films, one for each musician
We’ve known since April of last year that there will be four Beatles films. The comprehensive biography will be released in cinemas on April 7, 2028 (probably at the same time). Each Beatle will be the subject of their own solo film, telling the story of the legendary band from the perspective of each individual member.
At CinemaCon in Las Vegas last year, Mendes announced that each chapter of the series would be a “binge-able cinematic experience,” adding, “Maybe this is a chance to understand them a little deeper.”
The films will also star James Norton as Brian Epstein, Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono, Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd, Mia McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey and Harry Lloyd as George Martin.
Also starring are David Morrissey as Jim McCartney, Leanne Best as Mimi Smith, Bobby Schofield as Neil Aspinall, Daniel Hoffmann-Gill as Mal Evans, Arthur Darvill as Derek Taylor and Adam Pally as Allen Klein.
