Handball Bundesliga club HSV Hamburg celebrated the first home win on the third match day of the new season with a 33:30 (16:15) against the Rhein-Neckar Löwen and added the opponent to the opponent. The start of the season of the HSVH is impressive.
With now 4: 2 points, the team of HSVH trainer Torsten Jansen is in good condition in the table. The Hamburgers can be found at least temporarily in the top third – a place behind the lions that have been trained by Maik Machulla, the former coach of SG Flensburg -Handewitt since this season. “I am incredibly happy that we could reward ourselves against a strong Löwen team-especially after Wednesday, when the heads hung a little,” said Jansen.
HSVH with a good start to the game
The HSVH made a good start four days after the lost home game against TSV Hannover-Burgdorf. After seven minutes, Frederik Bo Andersen made the 5-2 lead. However, the northern Germans could not be clearer. On the contrary: Two technical errors in a row led to an 8: 5 turn into an 8: 7 (13th).
The reaction of the hosts, who made a very offensive 3-2-1 coverage, was impressive. Jacob played a wonderful, sharp passport into the depth of the incoming left wing Casper Mortensen, which then completed from the circular position. And shortly afterwards, let yourself be another three-goal lead (11: 8, 17th).
The fact that it was “only” 16:15 for the break for the Jansen team had a lot to do with a former HSVH professional: Dani Baijens repeatedly prevailed against the HSVH covering players with nimble body falsifications. With five goals, the Löwen playmaker was the most successful player in the first half.
From 2022 to 2024, the Dutch was an enormously important player in the HSVH team. After a season at Paris Saint-Germain and winning the French championship with PSG, the playmaker moved back to the Bundesliga this summer.
Jörgensen makes everything clear for HSV Hamburg
The beginning of the second half was marked by goalkeepers. Both Löwen-goalkeeper David Späth and Hamburg’s Robin Haug repeatedly take very strong parades. It remained a tight duel, in which the Hamburgers also came to three-goal preliminations in the second round, but simply could not settle more clearly.
But then, almost three minutes before the final siren, the time had come: After Haug fended off Lukas Sandell litter, the Danish Nicolaj Jörgensen (58th) scored 31:27, the first four-goal lead. That was also the crucial step to win the two points – the north Germans no longer gave this lead.
The best throwers in front of 2,579 spectators were the Hamburg Jörgensen and Andersen, each with seven goals and David Móré with nine goals for the guests. On the coming Saturday (8 p.m.), the game at record champions THW Kiel will be on the program for the HSVH.
