It was a lot of fun for fans of real amateur football during the derby between Alcmaria Victrix and Alkmaarsche Boys last weekend. This city derby was specially played on Saturday evening instead of Sunday. It was ‘Alkmaar’s oldest against Alkmaar’s craziest’, according to Alkmaarsche Boys player Remco Reinhard, with plenty of fireworks and a match full of goals.

‘Alkmaar’s oldest’, home team Alcmaria Victrix, was founded in 1898. The match is also about something, because both teams have not lost yet and are at the top of the Sunday fourth division. “You can’t experience anything better than this,” said Alcmaria Victrix trainer Edwin Veenstra.
