A fire raged in a building on the Markt in Etten-Leur on Thursday afternoon. The attic has suffered extensive damage. The building consists of a house, shop and restaurant. Emergency services are present to fight the fire.
The fire broke out around a quarter past three and raged on the top floor. According to eyewitnesses, the fire started in the solar panels on the roof.
The owner of the store was present when the fire broke out. He rents the building from his brother. “A customer said there was a fire at the back. I saw some smoke and the power went out. Then we called 911,” he says.
‘Close windows and doors’
The fire brigade is focusing on extinguishing the back of the building so that the fire cannot spread further.
According to the Safety Region, there is smoke development. “Close windows and doors and turn off mechanical ventilation,” the Safety Region reports.
