The fire was probably created in the kitchen of the school. Although a lot of smoke was released, there was no blasting fire.

Around 7.30 pm a spokesperson for the fire brigade announced that the fire was under control and that the building is now being ventilated.

One person checked

When the fire started, one person was present in the building. She has been checked by the ambulance service, and “makes up for it,” the spokesperson said.

Because of the heat, the fire brigade pulled out big. That has to do with paying off firefighters, the spokesperson explains. “At these types of temperatures, our staff gets warm quickly. We call it heat stress. That is why it is important that we have enough people to alternate.”

How the fire originated exactly is still unclear. According to the spokesperson, the building has sustained considerable smoke damage. This makes it uncertain whether the school will be open tomorrow.
