A man was taken to the hospital last night, after he managed to extinguish a fire in the kitchen of his home on Trumanstraat in Veenoord.
Around three in the morning there was a fire, presumably in a pan. While his wife fled the house with a young child, the man extinguished the fire with a blanket. In addition, he breathed in smoke.
When the fire brigade arrived at the house, the fire was already extinguished. Firefighters have blown the smoke out of the house. The man went to the hospital for investigation.
