Fire in chalet at camping Nienoord, several houses evacuated

A chalet at camping Nienoord in Leek caught fire last night. The fire brigade of Roden has also been called to help.

The fire started around 4 a.m. Because it was a blazing fire, the fire brigade deployed several fire trucks. By also deploying Roden’s corps, an extra fire truck could be brought in, so that there would be sufficient water.

Several houses around the burning chalet were evacuated. This happened partly because there could be gas bottles in the burning house. Police are investigating whether it was arson. Some residents of the campsite suspect that the fire was started.
