The fire broke out around 9:00 PM. It is not yet clear how and whether this will also spread to other homes. Several fire trucks are present in the Nieuw-Overdie district.

UPDATE 9:32 PM: The fire is under control, a spokesman said. The Security Region reports that the hope is that the residents will be able to return to their homes during the evening.

“The flat is ventilated, everything is checked for smoke and carbon monoxide. If that is in order, the residents can go home. There is no information yet about any injuries.”

UPDATE 10:05 PM: one person from the burning home has been checked by the fire brigade for smoke inhalation. The fire service also rescued a dog, the spokesman said. The house is uninhabitable. Residents of surrounding homes are allowed to return home.
